Operations
The Operations information includes the following:
• | MCS-150 Date - The date on the MCS-150 Registration Form. |
• | MCS-150 Mileage - The mileage on the MCS-150 Registration Form. |
• | MCS-150 Mileage Year - The mileage year on the MCS-150 Registration Form. |
• | Carrier Operation - Identifies the carrier as being engaged in interstate, intrastate hazardous material, or intrastate non-hazardous material transport activities. |
• | Shipper Operation - Identifies the shipper as being engaged in interstate, intrastate hazardous material, or intrastate non-hazardous material transport activities. |
• | Carrier Operation Classification - Possible types include: |
o | Authorized For-Hire - A commercial company whose primary business activity is the transportation of property/passengers by motor vehicle for compensation; and which requires Motor Carrier Authority or is is subject to economic regulation. |
o | Exempt For-Hire - A for-hire company that transports commodities or conducts operations not subject to economic regulation by the FMCSA. |
o | Private Property - A company whose highway transportation activities are incidental to, and in furtherance of, its primary business activity. |
o | Private Passenger (Business) - A private company engaged in the interstate transportation of passengers, which is provided in the furtherance of a commercial enterprise and is not available to the public at large. |
o | Private Passenger (Non-Business) - A private company involved in the interstate transportation of passengers that does not otherwise meet the definition of a private motor carrier of passengers (business) (e.g., church buses). |
o | Migrant - A company who transports in interstate or foreign commerce at any one time, three or more migrant workers to or from their employment (refers to: Contract Carrier by Motor Vehicle). |
o | U.S. Mail - A company that transports U.S. Mail. |
o | Federal Government - The transportation of property or passengers by a U.S. Federal Government agency. |
o | State Government - The transportation of property or passengers by a U.S. State Government agency. |
o | Local Government - The transportation of property or passengers by a local municipality. |
o | Indian Tribe - The transportation of property or passengers by an Indian tribal government. |
o | Other - A company that does not fall into one of the classifications above. A description is provided. |
• | Cargo Classification - Identifies the type of cargo transported by the carrier/shipper. Possible types include: |
o | Metal Sheets/Coils/Rolls |
o | Machinery, Large Objects |
