Navigation Overview The FMCSA portal uses some common, and uncommon, Web navigation methods. Once you become familiar with basic portal navigation, you can move easily between locations to find the information you need.
The tab menus allow you to move between portal pages.
The portal is broken down into smaller sections called portlets that display information or allow access to different functionality. Each portlet is labeled, and can be minimized, maximized, or closed. The portlets that a user has access to vary depending on that users role(s).
Some portlets use an accordion display that enables you to move between information.
A breadcrumb is a navigation trail that shows your current location in the portal, as well as the pages that precede it.
There are some common icons that are used throughout the portal:
The USDOT # box allows you to select other companies to view.
The Feedback tab allows users to provide portal feedback information to the FMCSA.
Clicking the Log Out hyperlink logs you out of the portal. It is recommended that you always log out when you are finished.
Clicking the Change Password hyperlink allows you to update your portal password. |
The Magnifying Glass icon is displayed whenever additional information is available. Clicking this icon opens another window to view further information.
The Help icon is displayed to indicate that further user-help is available. Clicking this icon opens context-sensitive help, which includes a Table of Contents, Index, and Search functions. For users with disabilities, the Tab key can be used to move through the screen until the desired Help icon is highlighted. Once the Help icon is highlighted, pressing the Enter key will open the user Help.
The personalize icon appears is displayed whenever a portlet can be edited to personalize the contents.
The minimize icon is displayed for each portlet. This icon allows the user to minimize the portlet within the portal.
The maximize icon is displayed for each portlet. This icon allows the user to maximize the portlet within the portal.
The collapse icon is displayed in any section where the user can click to hide details.
The add icon is displayed to indicate that information can be added to the portlet.
